*all very subjective, of course.
GK:
Daphne van Domselaar.
Would’ve been expecting to sit on the bench all tournament but ended up playing in every game - and was excellent in all of them.
RB:
Eve Périsset.
Very, very good all round. Scored the winner to get France into the semi-final. Chelsea have got a player on their hands.
CB:
Leah Williamson.
Frankly, didn’t put a foot wrong across the whole tournament, under what must’ve been massive pressure.
CB:
Stefani Van der Gragt.
Bit left field perhaps, but had some absolutely colossal performances in an overall, underperforming Dutch team.
LB:
Sakina Karchaoui
Like her compatriot Périsset, she’s just very good really. Electric going forward at times, but can defend as well. Combined formidably with Delphine Cascarino.
CM:
Lena Oberdorf.
Some player already and she’s only going to develop. She has it all. Probably the most important cog in Germany’s machine - at 20.
CM:
Keira Walsh.
When Walsh is getting the ball, England play well. Player of the match in the final, looks like she might finally get some of plaudits she deserves. One of the best in the world.
CM:
Kosovare Asllani.
Always turns up at a major tournament. Spends a lot of her time getting kicked around the pitch. Drives Sweden forward, works very hard and leads very well.
RW:
Beth Mead.
6 goals and 5 assists says it all really. She tailed off a little bit towards the end of the tournament but those numbers - in 6 games - are ridiculous.
ST:
Alexandra Popp.
Epitomises Germany. Led them in every sense of the word, brilliantly. 6 goals - and who knows what could’ve happened had she not aggravated an injury in the warm up before the final.
LW:
Mariona Caldentey.
Even in a Spain team looking a bit out of sorts, she stood out. Nearly always looked like Spain’s most threatening player.
Some honourable mentions:
Goalkeepers:
Mary Earps, Merle Frohms, Nicky Evrard.
Defenders:
Ona Batlle, Marina Hegering.
Midfielders:
Aitana Bonmati, Georgia Stanway.
Forwards:
Alessia Russo, Kadidiatou Diani, Klara Bühl.
